Life is Better

Hello Everyone!

Welcome Back to My Studio!

Ink n’ Splatter Pond Life…

Today I’m sharing a super cute card I created featuring  Ink n’ Splatter‘s “Pond Life” Clear Stamp Set. With all the many images, sentiments and extras, this set has endless creative possibilities.

I really had fun with this one. I did a little masking, ink blending, splattering, and even some transferring for a super fun effect.

So let’s get into it…

Stamping…

I usually begin my projects by stamping my images first so I can kind of plan around them. I don’t always stick to the plan but in this project I did, for the most part.

I first stamped my daisies on white card stock at the bottom of my panel. I masked each flower with Masking Paper as not to overlap each other.

Background Technique…

Once my flowers were stamped I place the Masking Paper back over each one to begin blending portions of my background with Distress Oxides Inks. I started off by blending the small grassy areas under the flowers and then the pond above the flowers.

I used the “Cloudy Day” stencil to create my clouds and set them low to the pond so my little frogs would jump out.

I spritzed, sprayed, and splattered parts of background and set it as aside to dry before I could move on to my next step.

Next Steps…

I decided early on in my planning stages that I wanted to create the little frog’s reflection in the water, so in order to get a mirror image of my little frogs, I stamped two more frogs on wax paper and immediately placed it over my water, before the ink dried. I pressed down with my acrylic block to be sure I got a clean, even transfer.

If you don’t have an acrylic block, or small hard surface, you can easily use your hand to press the stamped reflections down.

Note: Try to be careful not to slide your hand during the transfer process, or you just may smear the image.

Coloring…

After my background and transfer was finished, I set my panel aside to dry. I colored each image and even the reflections with alcohol ink markers.

My Base…

My base is a simple piece of White Cardstock folded to create a 5×7 card. I splattered the background using Watercolors and round bristle brush.

Putting it all together…

I attached a Stitched Scallop Frame, cut from White Cardstock, over my background panel. and adhered the panel to my card base with a sheet of double-sided adhesive.

Then I lined up my little frogs above their reflections and attached them with adhesive dots to give them some dimension.

Life is Better…

My “Life is Better” sentiment is also from the “Pond Life” set. I stamped it onto a piece of White Cardstock and die cut it with a super cute banner die.

Embellies…

Not many embellies here today! I only added a few Sequins to the sentiment banner for this card just to tie in the colors of the water. My hope was that the techniques and all the splatters were enough to make this card “jump” out and say “Life is Better with a Good Friend”!

I hope I have inspired you to try something new, or simply create something Fabulously Heart-Warming to bring you, or someone else, a little bit of joy for the moment.
