Ready for Halloween
Hello Friends…
Welcome to back my Studio!
Ink n’ Splatter has a NEW “Ghoul Friends” Halloween Release! And we are having so much fun creating cards with them! There are 4 glamorous and lovable, never scary, Ghoul Friends, along with several cute sentiments.
The Ghoul Friends have coordinating dies and we also have a NEW Halloween inspired pattern paper pad called “Boo-tastic” with a fun and trendy color palette.
Ready for Halloween…
Today I am excited to share a card I created using one of the adorable Ghoul Friends and piece of the Boo-tastic Pattern Paper.
I stamped the sentiment, “I’ve Been Ready for Halloween Since Last Halloween” on a piece of bright pink card stock and die cut it with a stitched banner die (my full supply list blow)
Witch Ghoul Friend are You?…
When I am illustrating images, I always create a little story line in my head and often give my images their own lovable personalities. So “Witch” Ghoul Friend are you?
I have a lot of samples to share with the Ghoul Friends but I will start with this one. I love her! She is quite the hospitable one as she graciously concocts a special brew for her Ghoul Friends.
Stamping & Coloring…
I stamped my image on marker paper with black dye ink. Dye ink is alcohol friendly and will not bleed while coloring as long as the paper isn’t saturated with alcohol. (my copic color chart below)
Card Base…
For my card base, I cut a piece of 8.5″ x 11″ black card stock to 4.25″ x 11″. Then I scored and folded it half at 5.5″. Then I cut a piece of fabulously bright pink card stock approximately 3.75″ x 5″ and attached it to my black card base.
I also die cut a piece of pattern paper slightly smaller with a stitched rectangle die…I love the look of stitching!
Ink Blending…
As mentioned before, I cut my sentiment out on the bright pink card stock, using a super cute banner die, and then I die cut a simple stitched square from the pink card stock as well, to sit behind my image for cohesion and contrast.
But I didn’t stop there…I ink blended tone on tone for some added interest, texture, contrast, and of course just for fun. For this I used an adorable stencil filled with varying sized circles.
Putting it All Together…
This was a fairly simple card to create with lots of eye catching appeal. My base was already put together as stated above. The horizontal orientation of this card leaves plenty of room for my big sentiment which I added to the upper left corner of my card with foam adhesive. Then I placed my stitched square to the lower left side of my card to leave a little room for my Witch’s hat. I also attached my image with foam adhesive to give my card some dimension.
Finishing Touch…
Because my pattern paper is busy, busy, busy, I didn’t need to add much for a final touch…but I can never let an opportunity pass without adding some sort of bling. So I dotted my sentiment and image panel with a few black pieces of Halloween inspired confetti.
And with that, my card was finished. Easy and fun, right?!
