Simply Fabulous

Hello Friends…
Welcome back to my Studio!

Today I am sharing a super fun “see through” card that I created for Craft Roulette (episode #169).

It’s my first time jumping in and taking the Spin Challenge! If you have never seen Craft Roulette, you must!

It’s a super fun way to challenge your creativity. They spin a wheel to choose 4 parameters from different categories and then the Host, Mary Gunn Funn, and her special guest creative a card live on YT. Everyone else is welcome to participate and has 48 hrs to submit their card.

I was inspired by the parameters of this episode and decided to jump in and create a card!

Parameters…

  • The “Project” Parameter called for a “See-Through” Card
  • The “Colors” Parameter called for a “Rustic Garden” Palette
  • The “Elements” Parameter called for “Fashion”
  • The “Random” Parameter called for a “Hexagon”

Felicia Fab Girl…

So when I saw the “Fashion” Parameter, I immediately thought of “Felicia Fab Girl” I mean really…is she not the cutest little Fashionista?!

What Ever was I Thinking…

So I pictured “Felicia Fab Girl” pretending to be in a Fashion show strutting down her catwalk/sidewalk in her beautiful little Rustic Garden. And…I chose some of my favorite colors!

LET’S COLOR…

I stamped my image on marker paper and colored it with Copic Markers. Then I cut it out using the coordinating die and set it aside to work on my card base.

Card Base

For my background, I folded and cut a piece of white card stock to an A2 size. Then I cut off about an inch on the bottom of my front cover and made another cut leaving approximately 1 1/2″ on the top and joined the top flap to the bottom flap with a piece of acetate to create my “see through” panel.

Rustic Garden…

To give this little project a rustic look, I decided to incorporate some of my favorite colors using a piece of pattern paper from Ink n’ Splatter‘s “Honey Bee Sweet” Pattern Paper.

I cut two strips slightly smaller than the card flaps and attached each piece on top and bottom.

Hexagons…

Using the same pattern paper, I die cut 3 stitched hexagon shapes and placed them inside the card to show through the “see through” window.

Simply Fabulous…

I stamped my Sentiment, “You are Simply Fabulous” from “Felicia Fab Girl” Stamp Set and die cut it with a cute little stitched banner.

Putting it all together…

Once I had all my elements, and my card base assembled, I attached “Felicia Fab Girl” to the top of my card (outside on the acetate). I was sure to have her stylish hair touch the top strip and her super cute pink shoes touch the bottom strip to look as if she was actually holding the card together.

Then I attache day sentiment to the top card strip with a piece of double-sided adhesive to give it some dimension.

A Few Extras…

Is you know me, or my work, at all, you would know that it is very hard for me to not go crazy with little embellishments and details, but since I was following the parameters of this episode of Craft Roulette, I decided to control myself and finish my card off with a few coordinating enamel dots to tie my design all together.

I hope I have inspired you to simply create something Fabulously Fun & Heart-Warming to bring you, or someone else, a little bit of joy for the moment.
