You’re My Coolest Friend

Hello Friends!

Welcome back to my Studio!

Today I am sharing a super fun, and easy, Slimline Winter card.

Slimline cards are very popular lately. Probably because there is more room to design interesting and fun compositions and…they fit into a #10 Envelope for easy mailing.

Sporty Penguins…

I created this slimline using Ink n’ Splatter‘s “Sporty Winter Penguins” Clear Stamp set and the coordinating Die set.

This set includes 4 Penguin Stamps, 4 sentiments and a few, Winter inspired elements, to spark your winter creativity.

I really enjoy designing Winter & Holiday cards! There are so many possibilities with this adorable stamp set…you can even “pair” them with the Winter Holiday Penguin Stamp set for even more crafty fun! I created a mini slimline with these cuties back in November, and I’ll be sharing other super cute projects with them again soon!

Coloring…

I stamped my penguin images on white marker paper with black hybrid ink and colored them with Copic Markers (full supply list below)

Then I die cut them with the Sporty Penguin Die Set and set them aside.

Card Base…

For my card base, I folded a piece of Kraft Cardstock to create a 9″x4″ slimline card. Then I die cut a smaller piece of White Cardstock leaving a slight frame visible.

I added a little distress blending around the edges of the die cut White Cardstock to tie my colors in together. But, for this step, I had to be very light-handed because I didn’t want the added color blend to take away from my focal points…the super cute Penguins.

Background…

With the White Cardstock cut to reveal an open scalloped circle, I decided to add a few different pattern papers to fill each opening.

For this I used the Gentle Winter Paper Pad

…and the Christmas Holiday Paper Pad.

Even though the pattern papers are from 2 different paper pads, the worked well together.

You’re My Coolest Friend…

I also stamped “You’re My Coolest Friend” sentiment from the same stamp set and then die cut it with a super cute, stitched banner die and attached it to a small piece of Kraft paper.

Putting it all Together…

I began assembling my card by cutting small squares of the pattern paper and attaching a different one behind each opening of the White Cardstock.

Then I attached the White Cardstock panel to my card base, leaving approximately 1/8″ border all the way around.

Remember the super cute Penguins? I attached each one in the center of the open circles with double-sided adhesive to give my card some dimension.

A Few Extras…

With my card assembled, I decided to add a few snowflakes that I die cut using a few of the pattern paper scraps

Then I added a few glitter dots and ice dots and my card was finished!

I hope I have inspired you to try something new, or simply create something Fabulously Heart-Warming to bring you, or someone else, a little bit of joy for the moment.
